We meet at 2.30 on the 3rd Wednesday monthly at Kirklands and out next meeting takes place on Wednesday 19th April. We usually have a speaker followed by refreshments. We are a friendly group of ladies and have a book group and theatre group and a monthly lunch club. WebFeb 23, 2011 · High Royds was one of the last remaining psychiatric hospitals of its kind still functioning when it closed in February 2003. Opening on 8 October 1888 it was then known as West Riding Pauper Lunatic Asylum. The hospital site included at one stage a library, surgery, dispensary, ballroom, butchers, dairies, bakers and even its own railway.
