WebMar 18, 2024 · Grassroots mobilizations arise in response to the new social cleavages and increased polarization as a consequence of neoliberalization and globalization processes as well as the transformation of state power and authority (Jacobsson 2014). They can be spontaneous and short, others – well organized and long-lasting. WebThis paper works in dialogue with Arjun Appadurai's paper, "Grassroots globalization and the research imagination" in an attempt to outline some necessary changes in researching education in the multiple contexts of globalisation. The paper provides two narratives as part of this project, which Appadurai calls the "deparochialisation of the research ethic".
